I LIKE FEMININE BOYS AND MASCULINE GIRLS

Jess Fitzpatrick | Contributor

I like the softness of girls

the way their bodies curve

like roads on a hillside in St. Kitts.

I want to drive down those lanes

in a shitty sky blue volkswagen

leaving tracks on their skin.

I like the hardness of girls

the way their black cat eyes cut

through the bullshit of flowers.

I want to let them slice

me up into pieces of petals

letting me grow into something new.

I like the softness of boys

the way their backs slouch

into a bowed ball of muscle.

I want to hold up their heads

and tell them it’s okay

for rivers to run down their cheeks.

I like the hardness of boys

the way their chins’ stubble

scratch up my dry lips.

I want to kiss their neck

leaving dark marks

on mottled peach skin.
